Grider Field Restaurant
About This Spot
Step through the doors of Grider Field Restaurant, and you’re greeted by a quietly humbling atmosphere where the rhythm of a bustling airfield gently blends with the warmth of a well-loved local spot. It’s a place that feels simultaneously tucked away and alive—where the soft backdrop of planes taking off and landing creates an unexpected soundtrack to a lunch that nourishes both body and memory.
This weekday-only gem thrives on a simple, steady pace. The crowd is a mix of regulars and travelers who’ve discovered that here, lunch isn’t merely a break but a moment to savor genuine southern home cooking. The space welcomes you as if you’ve stepped into a neighbor’s kitchen, where familiar aromas weave through conversations and the clink of silverware.
The true heart of Grider Field lies in the thoughtfully prepared dishes served fresh and warm—the kind that invite you to slow down and reconnect with the comforting tastes of southern tradition. From crispy fried catfish paired with tender greens to the quietly indulgent sweetness of candied yams and the humble charm of cornbread, each plate carries an unspoken story of family recipes and patient hands. The offering might be simple—a thoughtfully assembled salad or a hearty hamburger basket—but it’s all infused with care, seasoning, and a deep respect for classic flavors.
The staff here match the unpretentious vibe of the menu—friendly faces that make returning feel natural rather than formal. There’s an easygoing camaraderie that hums quietly alongside the efficient rhythm of lunchtime service, framed by displays honoring Grider Field’s rich history, adding layers of place and story beyond the food.
Dining at Grider Field isn’t just about savoring a meal; it’s about pausing within the flow of the day to enjoy something honest, familiar, and quietly joyful. For those who arrive with an appetite for genuine southern flavors and a touch of local history, this is an unhurried discovery worth making—time and again.

Get there early. Once they're out, you're either waiting for a new batch or it's done for the day. If you're game for fresh, hot, southern cookin', then this is the place for you! 10/10 recommend. I enjoyed crisp fried catfish, yams, greenbeans, mac n' cheese & corn muffin. Washed down with a bottled coke.

WoW! This restaurant is an hidden gem of a homemade goodness! The food was so good, I thought I was eating brown beans from my Cousin's house, and cabbage from my MOTHER'S stove! Highly recommend this busy local lunch spot. Great staff, service and price of meal.

It is always a treat to eat at an airport and watch planes taking off and landing. Only open Monday through Friday from 11 to 2 it is worth the effort to stop here for lunch.

This was my first experience at Grider Field Restaurant and I will be returning!!! The service was excellent, the food was home-cooked goodness and I have zero complaints! Honestly I wish I had more time to look at all of the amazing displays about the history of Grider Field and the different pilots, artifacts, etc. I look forward to dining with them again.
